Statement of the president veljanoski on the occasion of scheduling the early parliamentary elections
Distinguished representatives of the Media,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Allow me to inform you that in accordance with the Constitutional and legal provisions, as the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, I have ratified the Decision Scheduling the Early Parliamentary Elections, which shall be held on 11 December 2016.
In this manner and pursuant to the rules of representative democracy, the mandate is given back to the hands of the people, who are the supreme and most legitimate authority to judge, evaluate and decide on which political option should be honored, but also obligated to guide our state.
In the mean time, the Republic of Macedonia shall enter into a complex period of busy activities of the political parties, which I believe shall be in a mature, dignified and moderate atmosphere, culminating in a festive election spirit, in which the people's representatives for the next, 9th parliamentary composition will be elected.
Therefore, in addition to the aforementioned, allow me to express personal appreciation to all colleagues, MPs, to the journalists, the Staff of the Assembly, as well as our internal and international friends for the cooperation and the relation we have built in the past period.
Also, on behalf of the other MPs, I would like to sincerely thank the citizens for granting us the confidence on the 2014 parliamentary elections, to represent them, as well as to work and create on their behalf. I sincerely believe that we have managed to justify their trust, aside from all hurdles we were faced with as a result of the political crisis imposed to our state.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest conviction that during this pre - election period, our state will pass the exam of democratic maturity and that we shall reach a new level of quality, which is the primary goal for all political entities. I sincerely believe that in the next almost 2 months, all of us, engaged in the elections on 11 December, will have in mind the day after, when we will all have to stand together and continue from where we stopped.
