Today the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia held its first - Constitutive Session of the tenth parliamentary composition, chaired by the President of the previous parliamentary composition, Mr. Talat Xhaferi.

ADDRESS OF MR. GORAN MISOVSKI, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY, ON THE TOPIC “Prospects of regional cooperation in the post-pandemic era: time for a greater integration?”

Allow me, on behalf of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, as well as on my own behalf, to express how pleased I am to be part of the seventh plenary session of the SEECP PA, which is being held for the first time in this unusual, virtual way, but, certainly in line with the conditions imposed by the global threat called COVID-19, and of course, we are adjusting.

Appeal to assistance to the Western Balkans region in combating the COVID-19 pandemic

Aware of the complexity of the current situation and the problems we all face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this joint appeal is intended to highlight the currently very unfavorable and challenging situation of the Western Balkans region, both in terms of numbers infected, as well as the insufficient health equipment in the region necessary for the successful prevention, treatment and stopping of further spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In this respect, we now, more than ever, need solidarity, a coordinated approach and joint action.

Allow me, on this historic day for us, to express my pleasure and the honor I have, as President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, to chair this session at which the Legislature will ratify the North Atlantic Treaty, the core and the legal basis of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Meeting of President Xhaferi with Mr. Attila Mesterhazy, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly

On the occasion of the solemn session of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, which adopted the Law on Ratification of the North Atlantic Treaty, the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi met with Mr. Atilla Mesterhazy, Acting President of the NATO PA, who along with Ms. Ruxandra Popa, Secretary General of the NATO PA, were official guests at the session.

Address of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia at the European Parliament - Western Balkans Speakers’ Summit

Allow me, on behalf of the Members of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and on my own behalf to welcome the opening of this Summit, organized at the initiative of the esteemed President Sassoli, whom I wish to thank wholeheartedly and whose host I was honoured to be in our legislative a month and a half ago during his first official visit outside the European Union after taking up this responsible post, and after the disappointing decision of the European Council to not set a date for opening the EU membership negotiations.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met today with the newly appointed Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of North Macedonia, HE. Hasan Mehmet Sekizkök.

PRESIDENT XHAFERI AT THE TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS LUNCH HOSTED BY THE HEAD OF THE MOC

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, attended today the traditional Christmas lunch hosted by the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric, Mr. Mr. Stefan, regularly organized on the occasion of the Christmas celebrations and his name day - the feast of St. Stephen Protomartyr. President Pendarovski and the technical Prime Minister Spasovski, as well as members of the Holy Synod of the MOC-OA also attended the lunch.

PRESIDENT XHAFERI SPENDS TIME WITH CHILDREN ON THE OCCASION OF NEW YEAR

Today, President Xhaferi and the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia hosted the youngest and dearest guests, the children of the MPs and the employees in the legislature, to whom suitable New Year's goodie bags were given by Santa Claus.

THE ADOPTION OF THE DECLARATION ON THE RIGHT TO POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES MARKED WITH A SOLEMN EVENT IN THE ASSEMBLY 

The solemn event organized by the Inter-party Parliamentary Group on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (IPPG) and the Polio Plus Movement against Disability marked today the adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Political Participation of Citizens with Disabilities in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.
