Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the Mexican Ambassador Blanco
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi met the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Mexico to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Marco Garcia Blanco.
The Ambassador conveyed the greetings from the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and the Speaker of the Senate of Mexico and presented the candidature of the Senator Ms. Gabriela Cuevas Barron for President of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU), underlining that the Senator Kuevas Barron has great parliamentary and international experience, expressing hope for the support of the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in her election.
The President Xhaferi underlined his efforts for promotion of the parliamentary diplomacy and bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Mexico, emphasising that the Assembly has already established a Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliaments from Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Xhaferi underlined that the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia has positive view for the candidature of the Senator Kuevas Barron for President of the biggest parliamentary organization IPU, considering her impressive biography and rich international experience.
The meeting referred to the possibilities for deepening the political and economic cooperation between the two states and the undertaken steps in this direction – ratification of Memorandums of Understanding between the Governments, the Chambers of Commerce and the Agencies Attracting Foreign Investments. In this context the President Xhaferi underlined the need for abolishment of the visas to Mexico for the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia.
The interlocutors agreed on the need for initiation of closer interparliamentary cooperation, on multilateral, but also on bilateral level, above all, between the Speakers of Parliament of Macedonia and Mexico and the Parliamentary Groups of Cooperation.
