ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT XHAFERI AT THE ROUND TABLE ON:"THE PARLIAMENT AND THE CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS"

Distinguished representatives of the civil society organisations,
Deputies and employees of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia,
Distinguished media,
Distinguished present,

It gives mi great pleasure to attend today this round table with topic: "The Parliament and the civil society organisations."

As first among equals, i promised to engage for a higher transparency of the Assembly and presence of the citizens in the activities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. Together with the deputies, we will strive for an inclusive, transparent and accountable legislature, because the parliamentary information belongs to all the citizens. The New Strategic Plan will also ensure practical implementation of this commitment of ours. We will work towards the direct informing of the citizens regarding the role of the legislative power in the system of state regulation, through support of the educative activities for the young population, but also for the social-economic vulnerable groups. The concept of open day in the Assembly every last Friday is only one part of this vision. We will be working on the program content of the Assembly channel, and also upgrade of the electronic platform in order for it to become proactive.

Distinguished,

I support the Parliamentary Institute in the activities for complete electronic codification and indexation of the documents from the legislative archive, in order for them to become useful, searchable but also saved as institutional memory. To raise the level of the parliamentary debate, the deputies need information and comparative analysis made by the Parliamentary Institute and of course in cooperation with civil society organisations.

As part of the initiative Partnership for opened power, a National Action plan is prepared where we as legislative power will endeavour to incorporate a special part in order to be able to give our contribution to achieve the partnership goals.

In the capacity of President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, I am deeply convinced that the Assembly staff, the Parliamentary institute, assistants to the deputies in the Assembly and the offices for contact with citizens in the municipalities, will be the door through which the public accession to information coming to the Assembly and after the appropriate parliamentary procedure going out, will be eased. I see the civil society organisations as indispensable and true partner to achieve this vision of ours.

I wish you a successful work!

Thank you for you attention.
