Scrutiny debate on “Wastelands and Gathering Waste, review of the competences of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Municipalities, especially referring to the regional wasteland” Rusino”

The Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment and the National Democratic Institute NDI organized, for the first time, scrutiny debate on “Wastelands and Gathering Waste, review of the competences of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Municipalities, especially referring to the regional wasteland” Rusino” .

The Chairman, Mr. Tito Petkovski, Members : Ilija Kitanovski, Mr. Jovan Lazarev, Ms. Katerina Dimeska, Mr. Tome Danevski, Mr. Tahir Hani, Mr. Tome Chingovski, Mr. Boris Stojmenov, Ms. Kosana Nikolik Mazneva; the Minister on Living Environment and Physical Planning Mr. Nexhati Jakupi and NDI Representatives, the municipalities and the NGO sector participated on this scrutiny debate. 

The aim of the Scrutiny debate is oversight of the implementation of the problem with the Wasteland and gathering waste in the Polog region, especially in Tetovo and Gostivar.

Who is authorised for the solution of the current problems and are problems eliminated properly; what prevents Ministry’s initiatives for solution of the problem and regulation of the “Rusino” wasteland; are illegal wastelands eliminated, what is the strategy for their elimination and prevention for future spreading of illegal wastelands were some of the topics of the debate.
 
This scrutiny debate is very important from the aspect of implementation of the laws in this area which are important for the citizens and because of the practical application of the Provisions from the Law on Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, in the area of the scrutiny dimension of the legislative governance in the Republic of Macedonia. 

Participants welcomed the organization of the scrutiny debate by the Committee on Transport, Communications and Environment and expressed hope that it will be common practice in the future.
