ALBANIA STRONGLY SUPPORTS THE INTEGRATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA INTO NATO
The Committee on Defence and Security of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, headed by the Chairperson of the Committee Mr. Vladimir Gjorčev, today had a meeting with Mr. Arben Imami, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania. The members of the Committee: Mr. Oliver Spasovski, Mr. Milorad Dodevski, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, Mr. Vele Gejeorgievski, and Mr. Orhan Ibraimi, were also present at the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting Mr. Vladimir Gjorčev welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction from the good and friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries in all fields. He also expressed hope that the cooperation will be further intensified in future.
The Albanian Minister of Defence pointed out that the Republic of Albania is a strong supporter of the integration of Macedonia into NATO, because it is in the interest of peace, security, stability and development of the region, but also it is in the interest of the Republic of Albania.
Both sides emphasized the good cooperation between the two countries on parliamentary level, as well as in the field of security and defence. They also welcomed the recent ratification of the Agreement for free movement of people between the two countries and the possibility for the citizens to cross the border with an identity card.
