Member of SDSM. Born in 1949 in Negotino, Republic of Macedonia. Macedonian. Doctoral Degree in Political Science. Worked in the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research. He was also Research Associate at the University until 1994, after that professor. 1994-1997 - Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the Republic of Bulgaria in the period; 1997-1998 - Minister of Justice. He was also MP in the previous mandate of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. Fluent in English. Lives in Skopje.

NIKOLA POPOVSKI

 

 

 

Born on 24 May 1962 in Skopje.

Finished primary and high school in Skopje. Graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Skopje, where he obtained Master's Degree on the subject "The Economic Basis of the Information Society".

Mr. Popovski worked in the Ministry of Development of the Republic of Macedonia. He was Member of the Council of the City of Skopje in the period 1986 -1990. MP in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia since 1992. Mr. Nikola Popovski was Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, the Committee on Environment, Youth and Sport, and the Finance and Budget Committee of the Assembly of the Republic of the Republic of Macedonia. From 1998 until 2002 he was Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of SDSM.

Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 1993 - for a certain period he was Head of the Macedonian Delegation. He was also Member of several Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Mr. Popovski has published numerous articles in domestic and international magazines and two books in the field of economics and politics.

He speaks English language.

On 07 November 2003 he was appointed Minister of Finance.
