MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

On the occasion of 3rd December- the International Day of Persons with Disabilities the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a Meeting with the Representatives of the National Council of Disability Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia- Mr. Branimir Jovanovski, Head of the National Council of Disability Organizations of the Republic of Macedonia  and Head of the National Federation for Sports and Recreation of Invalids of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms Mirsada Bakik, Head of the Union of the Blind People of Republic Macedonia; Mr. Vasko Markov, Head of the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Macedonia;  and Mr. Krsto Canev, Head of the Professional Service of the National Council of Disability Organizations of Macedonia. 

The Representatives from the National Council of Disability Organizations of Macedonia informed the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski on the activities planed for tomorrows' marking of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities; they also informed him on the views, opinions and request regarding particular issues which directly concern the organizations and persons they represent. Mr. Jovanovski elaborated the importance of the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities underlining that they are aware that the implementation of the Convention may have financial implications, which in the period of financial crisis may be real obstacle. Considering this, the National Council agrees on ratification of the Convention with postponed implementation. Mr. Jovanovski expressed pleasure for the adopted legislative solutions, especially the adoption of the Law on Disability Organizations, which facilitates their functioning and provided the organizations to be valid representatives and better service of the people they represent. 

Mr. Vasko Markov, Head of the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Macedonia;  expressed appreciation for the Adoption of the Law on Sign Language and the opportunity for their participation in the drafting process in the framework of the Committee on Labour and Social Policy of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. The Representatives of the National Council agreed and requested that this kind of communication with the competent Assembly Committee to be regular practice in the process of adoption of laws which refer to the Disabled persons in the Republic of Macedonia. 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia expressed pleasure about the meeting of the Representatives of the National Council this year as well and congratulated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In the same time, the President reaffirmed the support of all MPs from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia regardless of their political, national and religious belonging in the adoption of more useful and more quality legislative solutions which refer to disabled persons. He also expressed his readiness to make efforts for sooner ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as surpassing part of the problems these organizations are facing with and adequate implementation of their proposals.
