Autumn Session of OSCE PA – Biggest International Event Organized in Macedonia 

Expecting the 15th Autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE, that will be held in Skopje, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, from 29 September to 2 October, the Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Ranata Deskoska held a press conference.  

This event is the biggest international event organised in the history of the Republic of Macedonia, considering that delegations from 51 OSCE Member States - 370 participants, out of whom 220 Members of Parliament have confirmed their participation in the Session.  

The Autumn Session shall refer to several topics in the framework of the activities of the OSCE. The working part is comprised of a Session of the Standing Committee, Parliamentary Conference “Strengthening Confidence-Building Measures and Good Governance in the OSCE Region” and the Mediterranean Forum.  

In the framework of the Parliamentary Conference, three Sessions will be held; the first one – “Good governance as a Basis for Fostering Economic Development in the OSCE Region”; the Second Session – “Developing Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in South East Europe: The Role of the OSCE” a Round Table with the Heads of Missions of OSCE in the Region will be held. Guided by the current situation with the migrant crisis, the third Session will refer to “Improving Human Rights Based Governance of International Migration”. 

Considering that OSCE PA is a forum for strengthening the international cooperation and accomplishment of the efforts of OSCE connected with the political, security and economic issues, as well as human rights and environment, holding a debate for these important issues here is greatly important for the Republic of Macedonia – underlined the Vice President Deskoska. 

She also added that, considering that one of the major objectives of OSCE PA is the support and the consolidation of the democratic institutions of the participant states, the challenge to be the host of the Autumn Session is even greater.
