MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENT SPEAKER XHAFERI WITH THE CROATIAN AMBASSADOR BARISIC
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi today held an official meeting with the Croatian Ambassador to Republic of Macedonia, Mrs. Danijela Barisic.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the election of Mr. Xhaferi as the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and expressed sincere expectations that the existing highly developed bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia will continue in the future with enhanced dynamics.
The President of the Assembly, Mr. Talat Xhaferi while expressing gratitude to the congratulations, informed the Ambassador about the current events in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia related to the establishment of the committees, delegations and parliamentary groups for cooperation which in the future will enable the Assembly to perform at full capacity its functions in domestic policy and international affairs.
Simultaneously, as the President of all Members of Parliament, he will personally advocate for the return of the institutional integrity of the Assembly in the constitutional system of the Republic of Macedonia as a legislative body as well as to strengthen the trust of the citizens in this institution. At the same time, he will put efforts to make this institution more transparent in a way that citizens will be able to regularly follow the plenary sessions and to directly gain an insight into the work of the Members of Parliament that have been elected by them.
The Ambassador Barisic underlined that the multi-decade relationship of understanding and friendship between the two states and the close relations between our citizens represent a great capital and investment in the future. The Republic of Croatia will continue to give its clear and strong support to the Republic of Macedonia at the multilateral level, especially in the European Union and NATO. At the same time, the parliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy will continue to be fostered and developed, as well as the relations regarding the economic, defence and cultural issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Assembly, Mr. Talat Xhaferi announced that he will personally invite his colleague, the President of the Croatian Parliament which will give a significant impulse to the development of the bilateral relations and to the regional and European context.
