Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the Ambassador of Canada, Ms. Kathleen Csaba
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi welcomed the Newly Appointed Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Kathleen Csaba, located in Belgrade.
The interlocutors concluded that there are no open issues between the two friendly states. They referred to the opportunities for promotion of the overall relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Canada, as well as intensification of the communication on parliamentary level. The President Xhaferi extended an open invitation to the President of the Canadian Parliament. In this context, the President of the Assembly expressed hope that the ratification of the Declaration on Cooperation and Strategic Partnership with Canada will happen soon. In the same time, he highly evaluated the support of Canada to the Republic of Macedonia for the membership of NATO and EU.
Ambassador Csaba gladly underlined that Canada is among the first states that congratulated the President of the Assembly for his election and underlined that the President Xhaferi through his work so far has significantly contributed in the normalization of the functioning of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.
The Ambassador also stated that Canada strongly supports the Euro – Atlantic aspirations of the Republic of Macedonia, carefully follows the internal reforms and welcomes the activities undertaken for the development of the good neighbourly policy, such as the ratification of the Agreement on Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria and the recent intensification of the discussion with the Republic of Greece in direction of finding a solution for the name.
Ms. Csaba was interested in the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the opinion of the President on the current developments in the society and the state in general. The joint conclusion was that the achievements of the strategic priorities by the Republic of Macedonia will be a success and positive impetus not only for the state itself, but for the whole Region.
