Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Ivan Korchok

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi met the State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Ivan Korchok.  

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Xhaferi underlined the pleasure from the meeting with a representative of a state whit which the Republic of Macedonia has excellent and years long dynamic bilateral relations on many levels.

On parliamentary level, the Parliament of the Republic of Slovakia shared the experience for establishing the Parliamentary Institute in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. 

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the Euro – Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia and the President Xhaferi informed the guest on the different, positive approach to this topic, especially through the improvement of the relations with the neighbors and initiation of the reforms necessary for approaching the Republic of Macedonia to EU and finally, full – fledged Membership in the Euro – Atlantic Alliance.  

The State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Ivan Korchok underlined the excellent bilateral relations between the two states and the positive tendencies for intensification of the economic cooperation through Slovakian investments in the Republic of Macedonia. Also, the Republic of Slovakia will strengthen the support for the Republic of Macedonia on the path to the European Union and NATO, as initiator of the “National Convention for EU in the Republic of Macedonia” Project, assisting the state in fulfilling the criteria pursuant to the Pribe’s recommendations and the Reforms Plan of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

The President Xhaferi expressed the preparedness of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia to contribute in the realization of this Project since its aim is in line with the determination for open parliament to the citizens and the civil society.
