The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski meet Mr. Zoran Thaler, MEP and Rapporteur on the Republic of Macedonia in the European Parliament

At the meeting, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski once again emphasized the positive results of Macedonia and its institutions in the process of European integration. “The visa regime liberalization for the Macedonian citizens, as well as the Republic of Macedonia 2009 Progress Report and the recommendation for opening the accession negotiations are acknowledgement for our results and for our commitment for EU membership.

The Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia discussed in detail the Report of the European Commission and adopted Conclusions focussing on the need to work harder in the period following the receiving of the date for opening the accession negotiations. We are aware that this is the most difficult part of the process of integration in the EU, where we belong historically and culturally”, said the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski. 

Mr. Zoran Thaler said that the progress which the Republic of Macedonia has achieved is evident, and that this is of great importance not only for Macedonia but also for the whole region. He said that the European Parliament pays great attention to the process of EU enlargement, including full integration of Republic of Macedonia and the other countries from the region. Underlining the existing cooperation between the Macedonian Assembly and the European Parliament, Mr. Thaler emphasized that he is prepared to assist Macedonia in its process of integration, as well as with regard to the parliamentary cooperation with the European Parliament.
