The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament Supported the Visa Liberalization Report

Late Monday the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs supported the report on annulment of visas for Western Balkans countries Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro as of January 1, 2010. Only one MEP voted against the report, and two MEPs abstained.  

The Committee called for acceleration of this process with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina to, as well as for launching of the process with Kosovo. 

The Report was submitted by the Slovenian MEP Ms. Tanja Fajon, Rapporteur of the European Parliament on the visa regime for the Western Balkans. Ms. Fajon said that this solution will be a guarantee for peace in the region.
