THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA SVETLANA JAKIMOVSKA HAD A MEETING WITH THE ELECTION COMMITTEE FROM GERMANY

The Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska, had a meeting with the Election Committee from Germany, headed by the Member of the German Bundestag, Mr. Helmut Lamp, on the occasion of presentation of the International Parliamentary Scholarship for 2010. 

The Vice-President said that the bilateral relations between the two countries are friendly and there is high degree of understanding. She especially emphasised the role of Germany in the NATO and EU structures, where it is one of the key supporters of the Republic of Macedonia and its NATO and EU Integration. 

The Vice-President of the Assembly, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska, expressed her gratitude for the IPP Project, which enables young people from Macedonia to be acquainted with the parliamentary, political, academic and culture life of Germany and to transfer their knowledge into Macedonia. 

Namely, the International Parliamentary Scholarship is a traditional activity of the Bundestag, i.e. the Project of the German Parliament, which together with the Technical University, the Free University and the University of Homboldt from Berlin, gives the opportunity to the young graduates from the South-Eastern to be acquainted with the parliamentary system of Germany. 

The MP from the German Bundestag, Mr. Helmut Lamp, said that the Bundestag is committed to this program, and that in 2010 120 MPs will accept interns from this program. At the same time he emphasized that the applicants are already prepared when they arrive in the Bundestag.
