THE FUTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA IS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
The Vice-President of the National Council for EU Integration, Mrs. Silvana Boneva, and the members of the National Council met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Lluis Maria De Puig. At the meeting, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Lluis Maria De Puig, was informed about the activities of the National Council for EU Integration. Also, the guest was informed about the successful implementation of the reforms in the Republic of Macedonia in the expectation of receiving the date for opening the negotiations for accession into the European Union and visa liberalization.
There is no dilemma that the future of the Republic of Macedonia is in Europe. Mr. De Puig emphasized that there are certain obstacles, but that the Republic of Macedonia should continue with the implementation of the European and the Council of Europe standards, and the Council of Europe is always prepared to assist Macedonia.
He also said that the Republic of Macedonia has a friend in the Council of Europe, that it does not impose a solution for the dispute over the name with the Republic of Greece, and that the Council of Europe will accept the agreement that the two sides will reach.
