DELEGATION FROM THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA PARTICIPATED IN THE SPRING MEETING OF THE PA OF NATO 

The Delegation from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia participated in the Spring Session of the PA of NATO, which is held from 28 May to 1 June 2010 in Riga, Latvia. The Delegation is comprised of Mr. Talat Xhaferi, Head of Delegation and Mr. Vlado Buchkovski, Member of the Delegation. 

The Report on Western Balkans was reviewed in the framework of the Committee n Civil Security: 15 Years after Dayton, which referred to the Balkan achievements and perspectives. The Report provides objective image for the events in the region, analysing the main flaws for its full normalization.  The Report refers to specific difficulties which arise in certain applications such as the case with the Republic of Macedonia, when, beside the well executed reform process, the applications of the Republic of Macedonia are stagnating because of the name issue. 

Mr. Talat Xhaferi, Head of the Delegation, attended the ceremony for NATO thematic books donation for the National Library of Latvia, which was also organized in the framework of the Session

About 340 MPs from 28 Member States of NATO, applicant countries as well as parliamentary monitoring debated on the main international security issues. The Debates were held in the five committees of the PA of NATO (politic, Defence and Security, Science and Technology, Civil Dimension, Economy and Security). Mr. John Taner, President of PA of NATO, Gondras Dauce, and Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia, Mr. Abdula Rahim Vardak, and Minister of Defence of Afghanistan as well s Mr. Andreas Fog Rasmunsen, Secretary General of NATO and President of the North Atlantic Council addressed during the Session on 1 June.
