EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO HIGHEST LEVEL OF PHYSICAL AND METAL HEALTH
The Women Parliamentarians Club from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia organized a public debate on “National Strategy on Sexual and Reproductive Health. The main goal of the Strategy is to provide better sexual and reproductive health for every citizen until 2020.
Ms. Slavica Grkovska Loshkova chaired the meeting and Mr. Gert Capman, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands and Mr. Fransois Farah, Regional Director of UNFPA for Macedonia as well as Ms. Elena Kjosevska from the institute on Public Heath had their introductory addresses.
It was underlined that the health is fundamental human right and that everyone has a right to highest physical and mental health. The Reproductive health is state of general physical, mental and social wellbeing, not just absence of disease.
The Strategy underlines the needs and rights of the citizens regarding the high degree of sexual and reproductive health through: universal education for everyone, reduction of death rate of newborn children, children and mothers and providing universal access to the care of reproductive health including family planning, delivery and prevention from STD and HIV. The sexual and reproductive health will be provided through focusing on interventions in the priority areas, control of diseases and conditions which have negative influence on the sexual and reproductive health; improvement of the cooperation between the partners and providing quality services with the best economic price for the state.
The Ministry has drafted this Strategy in order to provide promotion of the overall health of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, to decrease the differences and to improve the quality of services, strengthening the cooperation and coordination of the responsible entities, to develop quality service and to strengthen the health promotion and support of the scientific and research work.
