INTERNAL REFORMS- FIRST STEP FOR SUCCESSFUL ACCESSION IN EU 

The Delegation of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Senate of Romania had a meeting with the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Teuta Arifi. The Delegation underlined the interior reforms and support from the foreign friends as important elements for successful accession of the Republic of Macedonia in the European Union.

The Romanian Delegation, headed by the Chairman Mr. Titus Korlacean, evaluated the meeting as a good opportunity for cooperation between the parliamentary committees from the two countries.

Ms. Arifi underlined that the European Integration is Macedonia’s priority and that the Republic of Macedonia expects Romania, as a country which is considered to be part of our region, to show sense for support and assistance. 

Macedonian MPs expressed appreciation for the support which Macedonia receives from Romania on the way to EU and NATO, especially for the support on the Summit held in the capitol of Romania. 

The guests underlined that they support EU and NATO membership and expect the Spanish Presidency to provide date on opening accession negotiations and expressed their preparedness to share their experiences. 

Mr. Korlacean underlined that the exclusion from the European Family is problem for the stability of the state and for the region. 

Participants expressed their hope that the cooperation between the two countries will continue to be developed on every level.
