MACEDONIAN NATIONAL TELEVISION SHOULD TRANSFORM INTO REAL PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE

The Committee on Transport Communication and Environment, on its 58th Meeting organized a Public debate on: What kind of broadcasting Service the Republic of Macedonia needs?.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Tito Petkovski expressed hope that the public debate will contribute to the adoption of better law which will surpass the problems in the area of broadcasting, especially in the area of financing the public sector. 

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation prepared an analysis on the public broadcasting service in the Republic of Macedonia and the analysis was drafted by Ms. Snezana Trpevska, Mr. Ljubomir Jakimovski, Ms Vesna Shopar Ms. Biljana Petkovska and Ms Zaneta Trajkovska.   

Ms. Snezana Trpevska Mr Zoran Stefanovski Mr. Aljosha Siljanoski Mr. Jani Makraduli, Mr. Branko Radovanovik, Ms. Vesna Shopar Ms. Biljana Petkovska, Mr. Cvetko Grozdanov, Mr. Dragan Antonovski and Mr. Ljubomir Jakimovski participated in the public debate. 

The participants agreed that the Republic of Macedonia needs public broadcasting service, impartial from the centres of political power, which will be provided with finances, technical and organizational conditions, and a service which will function properly, as well as establishing a single model for paying the broadcasting tax.
