Mr. Andrej Zernovski, MP will participate in a Meeting of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population
Mr. Andrej Zernovski, MP, will participate in a meeting of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in Paris on 30 and 31 March.
As a Rapporteur he will present the Draft-report “Asylum and Violence on the Ground of gender”. According to the Rapporteur, women apply for asylum as a result of the same forms of persecution as men, but also because of the physical, mental and sexual violence, specific only for women.
This Draft-report states that in the review of the asylum request, the state is obliged to consider the gender dimension, even though international organizations dealing with this issue state that countries do not respect these obligation which leads to incorrect basis for decision on asylum.
Mr. Andrej Zernovski is expected to present the Draft-report on a plenary session of the PA of the Council of Europe by the end of the year.
