Public debate: “Pearl of Wisdom” awarded to Macedonia by the European Cervical Cancer Association

The Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men  in cooperation with the Centre on Regional Research and Cooperation”Studiorum” (member of ECCA), the Macedonian Women Lobby and the Women  Organisation from Sveti Nikole on the occasion of the oncoming International breast cancer day, 4 February, organised a public debate-  “Pearl of Wisdom” awarded to Macedonia by the European Cervical Cancer Association – acknowledgement for the progress and obligation for the future. 

The Chairperson of the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, Ms. Liljana Popovska the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, the Vice-Minister of health, Mr. Vlado Popovski, Ms. Neda Milevska- Kostova, Ms. Daniela Panevska and the Members of the Committee, NGO representatives and representatives from the international debates addressed on this occasion. 

The Republic of Macedonia was awarded on the Summit on cervical Cancer in the European parliament in Brussels from 26 to 27 January 2010. 

The Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia , the Ministry of Health, Centre on Regional Research and Cooperation”Studiorum” (member of ECCA), the Macedonian Women Lobby and the Women  Organisation from Sveti Nikole received this award.

In the end of the debate the Chairperson of the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men  expressed gratitude to every institution which was involved  in the area  of fight against cervical cancer and underlined that the final aim is organising screening program and HPV vaccine and emphasised that the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, together with the Ministry of Health will review the conditions of cancer concerning both women and men.
