Regional Political cooperation among western balkan states is essential for the euro-atlantic integrations

The Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Institute on Democracy „Societas Civils“ Skopje, organized a Roundtable meeting on “ Regional Political Cooperation in Western Balkan- Towards Common Goal- Euro-Atlantic Integration”

Strengthening the regional cooperation is one of the key determinations for all Balkan states and a key factor for establishing and maintaining political stability, security and prosperous economy. Hence, the efforts for strengthening the cooperation in all areas remain the highest priority for the governments of the countries from the region.

The participants shared the opinion that the regional cooperation can not provide direct access to EU and NATO, but may contribute to its establishment; that the parliamentary cooperation is a priority of the regional cooperation so that the MPs promote and accelerate this process through projects which will contribute in infrastructural, economic and cultural connection between the countries from the region in order to surpass the stereotypes from the past and that the political dialogues between the two states is key in the approaching to the EU.

In order to widely affirm the role of the regional cooperation among the Western Balkan states in the process of integration of the region, due to the need of expertise and providing impetus to the public debate, the new, 31st issues of “Political Thought” was presented.
