The Chairman of the Committee on European Issues, Mr. Petar Pop-Arsov participates on COSAC
The Chairman of the Committee on European Issues participates on the Conference of Community and European Affairs Committees of Parliaments of the European Union COSAC, held in Madrid. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Miguel Ángel Moratinos presented the priorities of the Spanish Presidency with the European Union.
Also, one of the points of discussion was the economy crisis in the European Union, as well as the novelties provided by the Lisbon Treaty, from the aspect of implementation by the Member States of EU. In the same time there were questions about the needed measures which should be taken in the implementation of this Treaty, bearing in mind the different practises of the Member States’ parliaments.
The importance of the regional cooperation between the West Balkan Countries and their EU integration processes were also discussed. In this context the Conference of the Participant Countries in the Process of Stabilization and Association from South- Eastern Europe COSAP was greeted. This Conference was held in Belgrade last year, and it was an opportunity for exchange of opinions and experiences for the EU Integration process of the countries from the region.
Regarding the issue on participation of the Participant Countries in the Process of Stabilization and Association from South- Eastern Europe on the next COSAC meetings, the positive results from regional cooperation were underlined and in accordance with the Rules of this Conference, these countries will participate only on the meetings on which the issues of these countries will be on the agenda.
