The Economic and Trade Cooperation between Macedonia and Turkey needs to be strengthened

The relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey are especially friendly, there are no opened issues and every area is covered with agreements and protocols- this is mutual conclusion of the participants in the meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee and the Committee on Harmonization with the European Union from the Grand National Assembly of the republic of Turkey. 

The Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee, Ms. Teuta Arifi and the members of the committee: Mr. Pavle Trajanov, Mr. Nazif Bushi, Mr. Vasko Shutarov, Ms. Hristina Runcheva, Mr. Avdija Pepik as well as Mr. Kenan Hasipi as a representative of the Turkish Community in the Republic of Macedonia expressed their appreciation of the use of the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia and the unconditioned support for our membership in NATO, provided by the Republic of Turkey.  

The Delegation from the Republic of Turkey, headed by Mr. Jusuf Zia Irbech underlined that the right of using its constitutional name should be acknowledged.  

It was also underlined that the relations between the two countries should be enriched, especially in the area of trade and economy. New investments, such as the TAV group, which is concessioner of the Macedonian airports, are very important.  

The guests noted the need of creating mitigating conditions for foreign investments in the Republic of Macedonia.  

It was also underlined that the common cultural heritage should be used in the development of the tourism. The MPs from Turkey referred to the Old Bazaar in Skopje, will certainly be attractive for the tourists from Turkey if it is restarted. They have also announced that they will provide a location in Istanbul for Macedonian cultural centre in Turkey, as Kurshumli An is the Turkish Cultural Centre in our country.
