MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA, MR. VALDIS ZATLERS 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the Presidnet of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Valdis Zatles, in the framework of Mr. Zatler’s first official visit of the Republic of Macedonia. On the meeting, the President Veljanoski expressed his appreciation of this visit and expressed hope that this will be an impetus for strenghtening the mutual cooperation on every level and underlined the supprt that the Republic of Latvia has been providing to the Republic of Macedonia in direction of its activities f integration or integration in the European Union and NATO. 

The President Veljanoski emphasised the activities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia regarding the harmonization of the national legislation with the Acquis Communautaire, and underlined the importance of the parliamentary and regional cooperation. The President expressed his expectation that the Republic of Macedonia will become a Member State of EU in near future and will open the accession negotiations with EU and, in this direction, he saluted the fact that the Republic of Latvia has the opinion that the bilateral issues such as our issue with the Republic of Greece should not be a direct condition for the progress of the Euro integrative processes. 

The Presidnet of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Valdis Zatles expressed his pleasure and appreciation to the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski for his good words in this first official visit to the Macedonian Parliament and the first visit of the Republic of Macedonia and especially emphasised the determination of the Republic of Latvia to fully support our European and Atlantic integration. The Presidnet of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Valdis Zatles empasised the benefits of his country after it is Member State of EU as well as the benefits for all countries that will be  part of the common European Market. “ I sincerely wish the Republic of Macedonia to achieve the same success  as the Republic of Latvia did six years ago, when it became a Member Satte of EU. We are prepared to share our experience and assistance in this area.” Stated Mr. Zatlers.
