THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI  DR. HUBERT EISELE, MEMBER OF THE DIRECTORATE OF THE SWISS AGENCY FOR DEVELOPMENT AND COOPERATION (SDC) EXCHANGED THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING  

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski  and the Dr. Hubert Eisele, member of the Directorate of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding  for implementation of the “ Support for Establishing the Parliamentary Institute”. 

Today’s event ceremonially marked the cooperation on the occasion of establishing the Parliamentary Institute after the Memorandum was signed in Skopje on 17 May 2010, by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Nicol Virsh.  

 “The Republic of Macedonia is a positive example between the Western Balkan Countries”- underlined Mr. Eisele. He expressed pleasure from the fact that high representatives from the Macedonian Parliament, together, establish the professional and non-party Parliamentary Institute which supports the main role of the legislative governance in the framework of the constitutional democracy.

“Switzerland supports the decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia establishes the Parliamentary Institute, financially and through the exchange of experience and expertise. Switzerland will monitor the establishment of the new Institute with great interest” underlined Mr. Eisele . 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski once again referred to the common goals and expectations, underlining that the common efforts in direction of strengthening the overall parliamentary capacities  of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia are well known, starting from the professional and independent analytic and research service which will provide the Assembly and the MPs objective analyses, access to a modern archive system and research library. 

PI, through the analytic and research services  which will be permanently provided, shall promote the legislative and the scrutiny role of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and will strengthen the overall assembly’s capacities.  

During the visit of Switzerland THE President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski is accompanied by the Mr. Jani Makraduli - Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia , the MPs: Ms. Silvana Boneva, Mr. Tahir Hani, Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova, Ms. Flora Kadriu, Ms. Roza Topuzova Karevska, Mr. Kenan Hasipi and Mr. Žarko Denkovski - Secretary General of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.  The Parliamentary Delegation exchanged experiences with the MPs from Switzerland especially in the area of transparency and multiligustics. 

On Wednesday, 23 June, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski will have a meeting with the Speaker of the Council of State of the Swiss Parliament - Ms. Erika Forster-Vannini.
