The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski received the Minister on Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu 

On the meeting, in friendly and opened atmosphere, both sides stated that the bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey are very good, that  there are no opened issues and this is good basis for developing and strengthening these relations. The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski , expressing his appreciation of the support from the Republic of Turkey for our membership in NATO, reminded that the Republic of Macedonia after Bucharest actively and responsibly fulfils its obligations to the Alliance. 

Mr. Veljanoski stated that the Republic of Macedonia is the only state, that is not member of NATO, which is increasing the deployed forces I the peace missions, especially in Afghanistan. The Euro-Atlantic process is inevitable since this process is in the interest of both, the Republic of Macedonia and Europe, and this is why it must happen. 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined that the parliamentary cooperation is good on every level. The Turkish Community in the Republic of Macedonia has significant role in the overall relations between the states, actively contributing and confirming themselves as loyal citizens if the overall social life of Macedonia. 

Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu stated that the Republic of Macedonia remains to be big friend of the Republic of Turkey and has significant role in the stability and the development of the Balkan Region. Many achievements can be an example to other states in the Region. 

Reminding that the Republic of Turkey insists, NATO Documents which contain the temporary reference, to include the constitutional name , under which the Republic of Turkey acknowledges the Republic of Macedonia.

The name issue was not created by the Republic of Macedonia, but by the other side and Turkey will intensify its engagements for Macedonia to become full-fledged Member State of NATO, since you have deserved it long time ago, stated Mr. Davutoglu.
