MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND MR. ROBIN DAVID SCOT, MP FROM THE PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA- AUSTRALIA  

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed Mr. Robin David Scot, MP from the Parliament of Victoria- Australia. The MP from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Milorad Dodevski, elected in the Election Unit 9 attended this meeting. 

Many issues of mutual interest were covered at the meeting. The MP, Mr. Scot welcomed the extraordinary opportunity for the Macedonian Diaspora to be represented in the Macedonian Parliament. 

The participants concluded that the Macedonian Community, especially in Victoria, in Melbourne contributes in the overall social, cultural and economic development of Australia and that the Community is a significant factor which benefits the close and friendly relations between the two states.

Both sides expressed pleasure for the agreements regulating the social and pension insurance for the citizens of both countries, which have entered into force on the 1st of April 2011. Also Mr. Scot initiated deepening of various kinds of cooperation in the area of culture.

The President of the Assembly, Mr. Veljanoski raised the issue on facilitation and liberalisation of the visa regime with Australia for our citizens, which will provide our citizens free travelling to Australia, and called upon the Australian multinational companies to invest in the Republic of Macedonia.

The MP, Mr. Scot expressed preparedness to discuss this issue and the steps for facilitation of the visa regime with the Federal Ministers, considering the large Macedonian Community that lives in Australia. Mr. Scot underlined the promotion of all potential kinds of cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, especially in the area of mining.
