It is very important for the Republic of Macedonia to receive the support from the friendly countries such as Hungary, which respects our constitutional name, which has the enlargement on the agenda of their Presidency with the European Union as well as the good neighbourly relations.

This was underlined on today’s meeting with the Chair of the Committee on European Issues, Mr. Petar Pop Arsov and the Members: Ms. Vladanka Avirovik, Ms. Hristina Runcheva, Mr. Mile Pachemski and Mr. Pance Dameski with the Delegation of the Presidency of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Hungary.

The delegation was comprised of Mr. Mihaj Bala, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Hungarian Parliament; Mr. Marton Gjongoshi and Mr. Atila Gruber, Vice Chairs of the Committee, Ms. Noemi Koranji, Advisor, as well as Mr. Ferenc Kekeshi, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the Republic of Macedonia and Mr. Atila Pinter, Deputy Head of the Mission of the Embassy.

He underlined that the Republic of Macedonia is interested to become a Member State of the European Union and is fully dedicated on this area, focusing on two points: the implementation of the reform process and finding a mutually acceptable solution for the name issue with Greece.

The Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Hungarian Parliament, Mr. Mihaj Bala informed that the visit is directly connected with their Presidency with the European Union and that the Conclusions from the European Commission demonstrate that the Republic of Macedonia has put many efforts in the European Integration process, but, unfortunately, the name issue remains as an obstacle.

In the same time, Mr. Bala underlined that the Republic of Macedonia can rely on the support from Hungary since he considers that it isvery important for the Republic of Macedonia to become a Member State of EU.

At the end, the Macedonian side expressed appreciation for the visit considering the busy agenda of the Foreign Policy Committee and the Parliament of Hungary during the Presidency with the European Union.
