THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI WELCOMED THE NEWLY APPOINTED HEAD OF EU DELEGATION, H.E. PETER SØRENSEN
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the newly appointed head of the EU Delegation, H.E. Peter Sørensen. Wishing him successful work, the President Veljanoski expressed preparedness and openness for immediate cooperation with Mr. Sorensen in the process of finding a solution for every issue important for our Euro-integrative progress.
The President Veljanoski referred to the events in the Assembly and its capacities in the past few years, especially to the adopted Law on the Assembly and the new Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
Many current issues were discussed at the meeting. In this direction, the President Veljanoski informed on the procedure for amendment of the Election Code (in accordance with the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations), the establishment of the Parliamentary Committee on the Condition of the Voters Lists, as well as the procedure for election of new Chair of the State Election Committ0ee.
On the other hand, Mr. Sørensen, expressed his encouragement from the development of the Assembly in the past few years, and regarding the future cooperation, he expressed openness for close cooperation with the President of the Assembly and the two Cabinets in sense of successful accomplishment of the political criteria for our Euro-Integrative progress.
The President of the Assembly, Mr. Veljanoski, considering the professional capacity and rich experience of Mr. Sorensen in the Region, expressed his conviction that they will assist the Republic of Macedonia to receive a positive Progress Report and opening accession negotiations during the Mandate of Mr. Sorensen.
