MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE COMMISSIONER RESPONSIBLE FOR ENLARGEMENT AND EUROPEAN NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICY , MR. ŠTEFAN FÜLE

At the meeting with the Commissioner responsible for enlargement and European neighbourhood policy , Mr. Štefan Füle, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski reminded of the three consecutive Progress Reports on the Republic of Macedonia and the recommendations for opening accession negotiations, as well as the positive evaluation of the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia as one of the key institutions for our integration in the European Union

Allow me to underlie that this is a result of the work of all MPs and Political Groups, which also demonstrates our firm dedication to the Membership in the European Union. In the same time I would like to underlie that all these reforms are implemented because we are aware that they will benefit our citizens and our state, and not because Brussels demands us to implement these reforms. In other words, when we will become members of the European Union, we would be fully compatible and competitive with other Member States. That is why, we receive wide support from the public, and also, positive perception of the citizens for the work of the Assembly- underlined the President Veljanoski.

Because of the well known reasons and the imposed blockade, the negotiations with the European Union are blocked, and we feel that we are in“quarantine”. That is why; we are participating in the new form of negotiations expressed by the high level dialogue. I would like to underline that we will continue to work and realize the tasks arising from this kind of negotiations with the European Union- underlined the President Veljanoski.

The Commissioner responsible for enlargement and European neighbourhood policy, Mr. Štefan Füle underlined that the enlargement policy in the current situation is the priority for the Union.

„That is why we have proposed the high level dialogue, as a bridge for the negotiations process”- underlined the Commissioner Füle.

Underlining the importance of the political dialogue in the Assembly, as an institution, through its working bodies and committees, Mr. Füle underlined that this dialogue should continue with the process of adoption of concrete laws and reforms and their implementation.
