MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVAKIA, MR. PAVOL PAŠKA

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the Char of the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Parliament of the Slovak Republic, Ms. Sonja Mirakovska had a meeting with the President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia, Mr. Pavol Paška. 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski expressed his appreciation from the first official meeting on the level of Presidents of Parliaments of both countries, since the independence. 

At the meting, the interlocutors expressed appreciation from the high level of bilateral cooperation, as well as from the mutual relations, characterised with high level of understanding, as well as for their further promotion. 

The Presidents of the two Parliaments, referred to the conditions in the European Union and the Euro- integrative process of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as the strengthening of the economic cooperation between the two states. 

The President Veljanoski expressed appreciation for the principle policy and support of the Republic of Slovakia to the Republic of Macedonia in its path toward the European integration. The President Veljanoski underlined that the reforms and the accomplishment of the criteria shall continue, as well as the solution of the name issue without jeopardising the national identity.

The President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia, Mr. Pavol Paška underlined that the indicators in the area of economy are positive and that there are possibilities for further continuation of the cooperation.

The President Veljanoski also informed his colleague on the efforts of the Republic of Macedonia for attracting foreign investments and the measures taken by the Republic of Macedonia handling the world and the economic crisis. 

In the area of parliamentary cooperation, the interlocutors recognized the successful parliamentary cooperation and expressed conviction that this high level of cooperation will be maintained in the future as well. 

Both Presidents agreed that the best bridge for deepening of the cooperation is education, and that the connections in this area will be deepened through the heritage of Cyril and Methodius.

In this context, the President Paška announced numerous events in 2013 in direction of marking 1150 years from the mission of Ss. Cyril and Methodius and invited the President Veljanoski to attend these events.

Expressing appreciation for the invitation, and in direction of maintaining the tradition and building bridges of cooperation, the President Veljanoski expressed gratitude for the possibility for the Macedonian students to study under the same conditions as the Slovak Students.
