MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC , MR. PETR NEČAS

The interlocutors underlined the developed friendly bilateral relations in all areas. The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the principle policy of the Czech Republic for the Republic of Macedonia and its European integration. 

I believe that our friends are well aware why today we are not member of NATO and why we have not receive date on opening accession negotiations. Nevertheless, as a state we continue our active participation in the peacekeeping missions of the Alliance, obligated to preserve the peace and to fight against the terrorism. Also, I would like to convince you that we remain determined on the continuation of the negotiations with our Southern neighbour, pointed out by the International Court to violate the international agreements and obligations. The future of the Republic of Macedonia and the whole region is in its integration in EU, but the future of united Europe will not be completed without the countries from the Region, underlined the President Veljanoski.

Regarding the parliamentary cooperation, the President Veljanoski underlined that it is progressing and that the experience of the Czech parliament in the process of harmonization with the European directives and the EU integration are especially significant for us.

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Mr. Petr Nečas underlining that the Czech Republic strongly supported the Republic of Macedonia for its Membership in NATO on the Summit in Bucharest, emphasised that the integration of the Republic of Macedonia as well as the whole Region is one of the priorities of the Czech Government.

We will continue our support for the Republic of Macedonia, which is being recognized by its work in the Euro-Atlantic processes and the general stability of the region, underlined Mr. Nečas.

Speaking of the economic cooperation, the Prime Minister Nečas underlined that he is pleased by increased trade. In this direction, the Czech Prime Minister is accompanied by a group of Czech businessmen who are interested for the Republic of Macedonia, in the area of energy, transport and other areas of economy.
