THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE PARLIAMENT OF HUNGARY, DR. LÁSZLÓ KÖVÉR

The official meeting of the President of the Hungarian parliament started with laying wreaths at the Monument of the Fallen Heroes for Macedonia.

At the official meeting, both interlocutors underlined the highly developed friendly relations between the two states, including the parliamentary cooperation.

In this framework the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski reminded that the parliamentary cooperation is founded on the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Parliaments ratified in 2008, during the official visit of President Veljanoski to Hungary. This cooperation does not cover the level of Speakers alone, but also covers the cooperation on the level of parliamentary groups, committees and other parliamentary structures. Speaking of the Euro integrative processes of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia has received 4 recommendations for opening accession negotiations.

He also expressed hope that Macedonia will receive a date on opening negotiations in December and conviction that Hungary will continue its, not only declarative, but concrete support for the Republic of Macedonia in the process of integration in EU and NATO. He underlined that we see Hungary as our true friend and a state that puts its efforts towards the integration of the whole region.

The President of the Parliament of Hungary, Dr. László Kövér expressed appreciation for the warm welcoming and underlined that Hungary will continue its support for the European integration of the Republic of Macedonia.

He also underlined that this support is not a instantaneous, but that the integration of Macedonia, as well as of the countries from the Region is in the national interest of Hungary. That is why, at the Council of Ministers in December, Hungary will fully support the Commission’s Report and the proposals for opening accession negotiations. He also expressed his conviction that we are eagerly waiting for the Republic of Macedonia to become member state of EU, since in this manner we will have another alliance in the solution of issues that the European Union is faced with.
