MEETING OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ON RELATIONS AMONG THE COMMUNITIES WITH MR. NORBERT RÜTSCHE AND MR. GREGORY ATTILA CONNOR

The Chairperson of the Committee on Relations among the Communities, Ms. Ermira Mehmeti, the Deputy Chairperson Ms. Marinela Tuševa, and the members of the Committee Ms. Silvana Boneva, and Mr. Gjorgi Kodzabašiev, yesterday met with Mr. Norbert Rütsche - First Secretary and Advisor for Regional Peace Building in the Embassy of Switzerland in Pristina, Republic of Kosovo, and Mr. Gregory Attila Connor - Peace and Development Specialist in the Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Macedonia.

The meeting was held on request of Mr. Rütsche in the premises of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. The main topic at the meeting was the realization of the Project on strengthening of the political dialogue.

At the beginning of the meeting Mr. Rütsche explained his role in the project as an adviser to the Swiss authorities. Based on his suggestions decisions are adopted regarding the projects financed by the Swiss Federal Council. He expressed hope that the Committee on Relations among the Communities will be guarantor of the implementation of the project on strengthening of the political dialogue.

Mr. Gregory Attila Connor suggested that the project should be realized in several stages and expressed hope that the UNDP and the Committee will have more direct and intensive cooperation, which would contribute to the strengthening of the role of the Committee on Relations among the Communities in the society.

The members of the Committee welcomed the initiative and emphasized that this project will have a positive effect on the relations among the communities in the country.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Ms. Ermira Mehmeti expressed appreciation for the support of UNDP and the Swiss authorities in this Project, and expressed her and the readiness of the members of the Committee for active participation in its implemented. She also expressed hope that their cooperation will be intensified and that in future they will work on other joint projects.
