MEETING OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE POLITICAL SYSTEM AND RELATIONS AMONG THE COMMUNITIES WITH THE PACE RAPPORTEUR MR. ROBERT WALTER
Mr. Ilija Kitanovski, Chairman of the Committee on the Political System and Relations among the Communities, today met with the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and Rapporteur for post-monitoring dialogue with the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Robert Walter, and with Ms. Sylvie Affholder, Secretary of the Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe (Monitoring Committee). Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska, Ms. Silvana Boneva, Mr. Aleksandar Nikoloski, Mr. Erdogan Sarac, Mr. Zijadin Sela, Mr. Dragisa Miletic, Mr. Trajco Dimkov, Mr. Antonijo Milososki, Ms. Vesna Bendevska, Mr. Mevmet Dzemajlovski, and Ms. Nadica Tanceva-Tulieva were also present at the meeting.
In his introduction, Mr. Kitanovski informed the guests about the work of the Committee and the latest developments in the country. He pointed out the fourth consecutive positive Progress Report of the European Commission that reflects the commitment of the institutions of the state for the process of reforms.
Mr. Walter is in the country in order to assess the progress of the Republic of Macedonia in the post-monitoring dialogue and the fulfillment of the obligations deriving from the membership in the Council of Europe. He was interested to hear more about the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the situation with the media, and the special rights of the members of the Macedonian security forces and their families.
