THE PARLIAMENTARIANS LJUBISAV IVANOV-DZINGO AND MARJANCO NIKOLOV AT A CONFERENCE IN BELGRADE

The Chairman of the Committee on Economy Mr. Ljubisav Ivanov-Dzingo, and the Chairman of the Finances and Budget Committee of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Marjanco Nikolov participated at the Conference held on 3 March 2012 in Belgrade on the topic: The role of the parliament in the decision making process concerning priorities: Public spending decrease or stimulating the economy, organized by the Serbian National Assembly in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

The Conference was opened by Prof. Slavica Dukic Dejanovic, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia; Michael Erke, PhD, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office in Belgrade; Gordana Comic, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia; and Prof. Dejan Eric, Director of the Institute of Economic Sciences.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Committee on Economy of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Ljubisav Ivanov-Dzingo addressed the economic and political trade barriers in the region.

Mr. Ivanov-Dzingo emphasized that the market in the region, especially among the CEFTA countries, should be further liberalized, and that the economic and business relations should be strengthened.

The Chairman of the Finances and Budget Committee Mr. Marjanco Nikolov discussed the structure of the Budget of the Republic of Macedonia, emphasizing that the largest part of the Budget goes for regular expenditures such as salaries, contributions, subsidies, social transfers and procurement of goods and services, and only 18% is allocated for capital expenditures.

He added that the capital investments should be used to stimulate the economy and that the governments should consider establishing a special fund for support of the export-oriented companies.
