The president veljanoski RECEIVES the EC 2013 progress report for the Republic of Macedonia
The Ambassador of the European Union, Mr. Aivo Orav delivered the Republic of Macedonia 2013 Progress Report to the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski.
On the occasion of the submission of the Report, the President Veljanoski expressed his contentment from the 5th recommendation for opening accession negotiations for the Republic of Macedonia with the European Union and expressed hope that in December, the recommendation will be supplemented with a date on opening accession negotiations. He also underlined that on the European integration path, the reforms are being implemented for the achievement of the criteria, but, above all, for the benefit of the citizens.
The President Veljanoski underlined that in accordance with the practice so far, this year the Report will be reviewed at the Meeting of the National European Integration Council, and it will be debated at the plenary Session, and similar to previous years, the MPs will adopt joint conclusions.
The President Veljanoski underlined that political will, sincere efforts and team work from all stakeholders in and outside the Assembly is needed in order for the goals to be achieved. He also expressed conviction that the established working group will continue its work and that the implementation of its recommendations will strengthen the capacities and will improve the functioning of the Assembly.
The Vice Presidents of the Assembly, the Coordinators of the Parliamentary Groups, the Chairs of the Foreign Policy Committee, the Committee on European Affairs, as well as the National European Integration Council and the Joint Parliamentary Committee were invited to the meeting on delivery of the Report.
