PACE TO DISCUSS DEVELOPMENTS IN MACEDONIA

At today’s plenary session, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will discuss the Report on the post-monitoring dialogue with Macedonia, prepared by Mr. Robert Walter (United Kingdom), Rapporteur for Macedonia.

The Report that the PACE Monitoring Committee adopted last month covers the reforms on the path of the country towards European Union membership, the functioning of the Assembly, the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the local elections, the events from 24 December 2012 and other issues.

PACE has a clear position that the future of the Republic of Macedonia lies in the European Union and NATO and expresses regret that the dispute over the name continues to delay the opening of accession negotiations with the EU, despite the repeated recommendations of the European Commission.
