The president veljanoski at the audience of the Pope francis

The Official Macedonian Delegation, headed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski attended the Audience with the new Pope Francis. The President Veljanoski congratulated the election of the 266th Head of the Catholic Church, expressing sincere wishes for further promotion of the peace, cooperation and friendship in the world. 

The Head of the Roman Catholic Church expressed support to the Macedonian people and underlined that Macedonia has done a lot for the Christianity.

The President of the Assembly invited the Pope to visit the Republic of Macedonia and the Region, underlining that his visit will provide an additional motivation for all the events in the Region.

The President Veljanoski underlined that he is deeply convinced that under the leadership of the Pope Francis, the Holy Chair will continue to provide the irreplaceable and essential contribution in strengthening the faith in God spreading the Holy Word for mutual love, assistance, as well as the traditionally good relations between the Holy Chair and the Republic of Macedonia.

The President Veljanoski underlined that St. Cyril deeply bonds together Macedonia and Rome, and that today, the Macedonian delegation marks the Day of St. Cyril in the Eternal City for the 45th time.

The President Veljanoski gifted the Pope with the woodcarving- walnut tree Rosetta, and also met the State Secretary of the Holy Chair- the Cardinal Teracisio Bertone.
