THE THIRTY-FIFTH ISSUE OF THE BULLETIN OF THE JPC

This double edition, for the months of July and August 2013, covers the activities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia related to European integration, including the official visit of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Borut Pahor and his meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, during which there was, once again, an exchange of opinions towards obtaining a date for the opening of accession negotiations between the Republic of Macedonia with the European Union. in that context. At this meeting there was an expression of willingness by the Republic of Slovenia to do everything in its ability to facilitate the integration of the Republic of Macedonia.

During July, in the light of the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Council, the National European Integration Council and European Affairs Committee of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, held a joint-session where there was a presentation of the program of work and priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency for the period between July - December 2013, by the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania accredited to the Republic of Macedonia with headquarters in Budapest, H.E. Renatas Jushka. The Ambassador highlighted that the focus of the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Council will be the following three priorities: a credible, growing and open Europe, the strengthening of the EU as a global model of openness and security, closer integration of the Eastern partners and monitoring the process of the EU enlargement.

A Delegation of the European Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Netherlands held an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia. During the Delegations stay it held meetings with their counterparts of the European Affair Committee and the Parliamentary group for cooperation in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, were there was an exchange of opinions for developing cooperation in the field of tourism as the strongest link between the two countries, as well as the development of links in the field of agriculture and the possibilities for utilization of the experiences of the Netherlands and its implementation in the Republic of Macedonia.

During the summer, the European Affairs Committee, held a series of two planned sequels of the oversight hearing on the utilization of IPA funds in the Republic of Macedonia, during which there was a discussion on the level of utilization of IPA funds in the country, the institutional capacity to use them and opportunities offered by the new Instrument IPA II for the Republic of Macedonia.
