“16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS”

Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, yesterday, within the framework of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women and Girls” held a working meeting with the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) and the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, where was discussed on the progress in the implementation of  the National Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention (2018-2023), focusing on the Draft-law on Prevention and Protection of Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence and the necessary amendments to the Criminal Code with the aim of harmonization with the Istanbul Convention.  

Namely, one of the three goals of the NAP is the harmonization of the national legislation with the obligations and recommendations of the Istanbul Convention, therefore, CRPM and the National Network are focused on working on part of the laws which are in the process of harmonization.  

At the working meeting, the non-governmental organizations presented the Report on Monitoring the Implementation of the National Action Plan and was discussed on the key amendments in the Draft-law for Prevention and Protection of Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence.  

At the end of the meeting was also presented the plan of the Ministry of Justice on the amendments of the Criminal Code, and also the Minister of Justice in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Bojan Maricik addressed the meeting.
