Address by President Xhaferi at the Exhibition on the Visegrad Group V4
Dear Ambassadors,
Dear colleagues,
Dear guests,
Primarily, allow me to express my pleasure on the realization of the idea for today’s Exhibition, whose organization, despite the current extraordinary conditions, clearly confirms the support of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia for the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia and the whole region. At the same time, I would like to extend my gratitude to the esteemed present ambassadors of the member states of the Visegrad Group for their engagement so far in advancing the process of European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia and promoting the role of national parliaments.
This exhibition takes place at a time when we as states and national parliaments are facing many issues in terms of the current pandemic, but also in terms of our integration path to EU membership. The pandemic has showed all of its bad and good sides, and we as institutions up to date have had sufficient time to recognize the weaknesses and advantages and to properly plan and make the necessary adjustments for a normal conduct of activities in the future.
The Visegrad Four is a successful model of cooperation between member states which from aspirants, with mutual cooperation became part of the European Union and is a model of cooperation which the Republic of Macedonia and the countries in the region strive to follow. The experience of the countries of the Visegrad Group, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia is extremely important in the process of our integration to the European Union.
All activities of the Visegrad Group are oriented towards strengthening the stability in the region of Central Europe. The participating countries understand this cooperation as a challenge, and its success as the best proof of their ability to integrate in such structures as well, such as the European Union. They have a common goal and that is to encourage optimal cooperation with all countries, especially with neighbors, and the ultimate interest of V4 is the democratic development in all parts of Europe.
Dear,The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia will continue to have an active, visible and constructive role with the Visegrad Group and through proposals and suggestions will contribute to the adoption of the necessary legislation and building a social consensus on the benefits and challenges of joining the European Union.
We expect further continuous and fruitful cooperation at all levels with the Visegrad Group as our longtime supporter and partner. The future of all of us is in the European Union and this region has no other alternative. That is the main message we deliver from here and the main priority of our country.
