The last training yesterday marked the completion of the series of trainings for the Standing Inquiry Committee for Protection of Civil Freedoms and Rights, organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the House Democracy Partnership.

By recognizing the important role that the Inquiring Committee has in the system of human rights protection, IRI and the House Democracy Partnership held three trainings for strengthening the capacities of the Standing Inquiry Committee.

During the trainings, members and deputy members of the Standing Inquiry Committee exchanged experiences, recommendations and opinions with former congressmen of the US Congress, as well as with current and former employees on the administration of the US Congress, actively engaged in the administration of the committee work. The first training was opened by the President of the Assembly, Talat Xhaferi.

The topics covered by the trainings included methods for improving the functioning of the committee, identification of the priorities of the committee, improvement of internal cooperation, holding public and oversight hearings, the best practices for inclusion of stakeholders and citizens in the Committee work, as well as external and internal communication of reports, messages and conclusions of the committee.

Part of the trainers who participated in the trainings are: Bob Goodlatte, former Congressman in the US Congress from Virginia (1993-2019), Peter Roskam, former Congressman in the US Congress from Illinois (2007-2019), Thomas Kahn, former House Budget Committee Staff Director, as well as other current and former directors and deputy-directors of the Staff in the Congress.
