Meeting of the President Veljanoski and the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Ernesto Massimino Bellelli
At the beginning of the meeting the interlocutors referred to the participation of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski in the Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Rome in April, and the President Veljanoski reaffirmed the impressions from the high level meetings as well as from the good organization of the Conference.
Ambassador Bellelli underlined that the multilateral cooperation is important, but that the parliamentary diplomacy should be intensified on bilateral level, in other words increasing the dynamics of meetings and communication between the Parliaments of Italy and Macedonia on all levels.
The meeting referred to the election of the new Secretary General of OSCE PA, which will be held in the framework of the opening of the Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly at the beginning of July; Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia will attend this event.
Ambassador Bellelli underlined that he is familiar with the current situation in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and that he considers that the opposition should return in the Assembly, so that the institution can continue its work in full capacity, since every party should demonstrate responsibility in the resolution of the situation.
The President Veljanoski agreeing that the opposition should return to the Assembly as soon as possible underlined his determination to this issue and underlined that this political situation harms the state.
