Our Country – Example of Tolerance and Peace

The Vice President of the Assembly, Fadil Zendeli, had a meeting with Ahmed bin Mohammad Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.

In a friendly atmosphere, the interlocutors expressed great mutual respect, satisfaction from the meeting and the opportunity to discuss topics of common interest – tolerance and peace.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Zendeli briefed the guest on the composition, structure and functioning of our legislature and how the majority and the opposition together deal with the pandemic, as it impacts not only the health but also economy, education and other important segments in the society. In this regard, he stressed the importance of constructive dialogue for every democratic society.

Despite the challenges, we remain committed on the path to the EU, because it is important for us to become part of the European family, where we belong both geographically and culturally. But despite this, we are not only concentrating on Europe, but we are also cooperating with everyone else with whom we share the same goals, Zendeli said.

He added that as a small country, our capacities are not very large, but with our knowledge and other capabilities, we can contribute to tolerance and peace globally.

For his part, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, informed that their regional office for the Balkans is open right here, which is just a sign that they highly appreciate what our country has done in the context of good neighbourly relations, with a vision for tolerance and peace, sending therefore a strong message to Europe and the world.

Al-Jarwan left open space for ideas for the functioning of this office, with the possibility to organize events with guests from the Balkan countries, showing that this Region, regardless of the past, can live in tolerance and peace.
