PARTICIPATION OF THE MP ARBER ADEMI IN THE COSAC CONFERENCE
The Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Arber Ademi, participated in the two-day virtual Conference of the Committees European Affairs of the EU countries – COSAC which was held in Berlin, within the German presidency with the EU.
In the Conference in which participated delegations of the Committees on European Affairs of member countries and candidate countries for the EU membership, also addressed the German Chancellor Angela Merkel who referred to the realization of the drafted priorities of the German six-month EU presidency that started in 1 June and will finish at the end of the year.
Chancellor Merkel, discussing on the most important priorities also referred to the EU enlargement with the countries from the Western Balkans, wherein pointed out that Germany was committed to the opening of the negotiations with the EU for North Macedonia and Albania. In this context, she underlined that for North Macedonia the focus should be on finding a solution to overcoming the bilateral dispute with the neighboring Bulgaria.
Referring to other priorities, primarily she referred to the situation with the Covid19 pandemics in Europe, and within this framework, the vaccination and also the need for adoption of a financial package, where among other things are also foreseen measures for overcoming the economic consequences of the pandemics. Also, she underlined as one of the most important issues for the EU those related to climate changes, immigration and Brexit.
At the end, Merkel also noted the importance for a greater democracy in the EU and the rule of law, and in this context the inclusive dialogue within the Conference for the future of Europe.
