The President Veljanoski attends the Fourth International Forum „Let My People Live!“

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski attends the opening of the Fourth International Forum „Let My People Live!“ in Prague, the Czech Republic, on the occasion of marking the 70 years since the victory over the fascism and the liberation of the death camps in Europe.

Mr. Moshe Kantor, President of the European Jewish Congress; Mr. Milan Stech, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic; Jan Hamacek, Speaker of the Czech Parliament, and Mr. Bohuslav Sobotka, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic opened the Forum.

The participants exchanged opinions in three panel discussions on the growth of the anti-Semitism, racism, as well as the political and religious extremism in Europe.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Holocaust, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski stated:„The Holocaust is the saddest confirmation of the human nature. The pogrom of the Jewish people in the past is the darkest spot of the whole society that should remind and warn us constantly, Macedonian people have never, not for a moment, been on the axis of the evil that caused the greatest crimes known to the world during the World War II. On the contrary! That is why, today, being proud of our past, we invest in the further development of tolerance and understanding of our friendly, Jewish people, and the peak of all this is the Museum of the Holocaust in Skopje.

In this context, this International Forum is a continuation of a historic tendency of the Macedonian people for further development of understanding and cooperation among all, regardless of the religious or ethnic belonging. My attendance in this Forum is in direction of conveying this important message in the period when the embodied violence and terrorism, like the one in Paris this month, upswings against the wish for peace and freedom.“

The President Veljanoski had meetings with his colleagues, Presidents of Parliament, also participants in this event.
