MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND AVDULLAH HOTI, PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, had a meeting today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, in the framework of his official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia. The Delegation included Driton Selmanaj, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo.

At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the excellent bilateral relations and the successful cooperation between the two friendly countries, which are characterized by mutual support and respect.

President Xhaferi emphasized the positive and constructive cooperation between the Assemblies of North Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo and expressed expectation that the political dialogue will be intensified by holding the first joint session between the governments of the two countries. He said that sending 44 members of the Army of North Macedonia to KFOR, as our first rotation in a NATO-led mission after gaining full membership in the Alliance, will contribute to further stability in Kosovo and the region. Xhaferi stressed that the Republic of North Macedonia on principle supports the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Kosovo and continuously expresses readiness to transfer experiences in these processes. At the same time, he expressed hope for Kosovo's qualitative progress in the EU integration, as well as for obtaining visa liberalization.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia expressed support to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, with the belief that a lasting solution acceptable to both sides would be reached, and welcomed the Agreement on the Normalization of Economic Relations between Kosovo and Serbia, signed in Washington.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Abdullah Hoti, congratulated on the significant changes, and the exceptional reforms and progress achieved by the Republic of North Macedonia, assessing that it creates a new momentum for development and stability of the entire region. He referred to the situation in Kosovo, especially in terms of its European integration, and highlighted the interest in implementing EU funded projects for cross-border cooperation between North Macedonia and Kosovo.

Xhaferi and Hoti referred to the economic cooperation and the priority projects for the infrastructural connection between North Macedonia and Kosovo, in order to further bring the two countries closer and enable free flow of people and goods.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stressed the need for further deepening of cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo in all areas of mutual interest, which will contribute to further strengthening good neighborly relations, as well as to the progress, stability and security of the region.
